Tau Rho Chapter, Third District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and its affiliate Foundation, The Rappahannock Regional Scholarship and Uplift (RRUSF) Foundation, the Sponsor for the Tau Rho Chapter Fatherhood Initiative and Mentoring Program continues to Score each week with a different activity. The Program Kicked off back in February and has had a special activity each week. The team of Mentors from the Tau Rho Chapter meet each Wednesday for approximately 90 minutes to teach our 19 mentees critical fundamentals of life Skills while still having fun. The Program started with interviews back on Feb 13, 2019, then the Opening Ceremonies on February 27, 2019. Chapter representatives, Omega Men along with Lyn Roane, the RRUSF President were on hand to talk to the parents and Mentees about the program. Classes completed so far are Team Building/Roles of a Mentee, Prescription and Street Drugs awareness, S.T.E.M for Success, this included two sessions where the kids were in competition to build Robotics sets. Following up with Preparation for Dating, and Hygiene and Healthy Lifestyles. To date the Kids have taken a Bowling Trip and Scored high with a Trip to Washington, DC to attend a Washington Wizards Vs. San Antonio Spurs NBA Basketball game. The next outside event is a schedule trip to the University of Virginia on April 27, 2019 for a college visit and a view of the College Spring Football game. The Tau Rho Chapter Fatherhood Initiative and Mentoring Program continues to SCORE big with our kids and their parents, while building relationships and Life lessons and providing leadership to the next Generation of our Inner-City Youth.
