Tau Rho Basileus Norris Arceneaux and Bro Floyd Thomas, Key-note Speaker

Tau Rho Chapter, Third District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and its affiliate The Rappahannock Regional Scholarship and Uplift Foundation celebrated their 2019 Achievement Week Activities with three outstanding events: The Achievement Week Banquet, The A.M. Banks Scholarship Fall Dance and The Student Academic Achievement Recognition Program.

All three events are held annually. The banquet was on November 2nd, 2019 from 1pm to 3pm at the Fredericksburg Hospitality House in Fredericksburg, Va. The A.M. Banks Scholarship Fall Dance was held on November 16th, 2019 at The Fredericksburg Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, from 8pm to 12 midnight. Finally, to close out our Achievement Week activities the brothers of Tau Rho will host The Student Academic Achievement Program Thursday, December 5, 2019 in the auditorium at James Monroe High School, 2300 Washington Ave. Fredericksburg, VA 22401 at 7:00 p.m. A reception for students and their families will follow the awards ceremony.

Brother Meddie Brown, Tau Rho Chapter was the Committee chair for the Luncheon and the Student program and has done a masterful job. He was supported by Brother Clarence Robinson, co-chairman. Brother Tracy Whitehurst was the emcee for The Achievement Week Luncheon. Our Key-Note Speaker was Brother Floyd Thomas, he delivered a very inspiration message to our attendees. Our Citizen of the Year recipient, Ms. Belinda Porter, an amazing lady of vision with stellar.

History of continued community service in the Fredericksburg area. Brother Tracy Whitehurst was selected for the Superior Service Award, Brother Terry Lee received the Tau Rho Founders Award and finally Tau Rho’s Omega Man was Brother George Lumpkins.

Brother Norman Carter was the committee chair for the Fall Scholarship Dance. The funds raised at this event held in conjunction with our Foundation the RRSUF is critical to Tau Rho awarding Scholarships each year.

The Student Academic Achievement Program will recognized over 80 Students from 18 different High schools in 5 counties within Tau Rho’s areas of responsibility who have maintained a 3.4 G.P.A or above.

The Tau Rho Basileus, Brother Norris Arceneaux will award a $500 Scholarship to Ms. Dulanda Saintcyr, this year’s Essay Contest winner. All in All, tau Rho continues to do the Work of Omega in the greater Fredericksburg Community.
