Greetings Brothers of the Third District,

Labor Day is once again upon us. We have been giving another year to pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. Labor Day was birthed from the Labor Movement. “The Labor Movement was the principal force that transformed misery and despair into hope and progress.” – Martin Luther King Jr. Over the past year, the COVID-19 virus has caused a tremendous negative impact on workers around the globe. Families have been met with numerous economic and personal challenges, as tens of thousands lost their job due to businesses having to decrease their workforce.

The brotherhood of the Third District of the Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc., remains resilient and continues to persevere in their endeavors. As many negatives have been associated with the pandemic, we also realize there were positives as well. Families have been able to spend more time together, allowing for parents to bond with their children, as many workers were given the option to work virtually. Some workers transitioned to new careers. Others took the opportunity to strategize, venture out, and take the entrepreneurial leap of faith.

Remember, we helped to build this country. There continues to be a significant amount of blood, sweat, and tears invested into our success as we continue to meet these challenges face-to-face. Be encouraged knowing that your hard work and contributions will always be a value-add to your family, friends, communities, our country, and the world. As we take a moment to reflect on the meaning of Labor Day, there are several honorable Omega contributors of note in various stations of life such as: Dr. Ernest E. Just, Bishop Eager A. Love, Dr. Oscar J. Cooper, Professor Frank Coleman, Dr. Carter G. Woodson, Dr. Charles Drew, Colonel Charles Young and our Former District Representatives to name a few.

This Labor Day, we honor all Omega men in various career fields as you continue to be the leaders, providers, and protectors God called you to be. Keep lifting as you climb and pressing toward the mark to ensure the securities of your family in these unprecedented times. Additionally, take this day to reflect and relax, understanding that it has been well earned as a result of your hard work over the past year.

Brothers, we continue to stand on the shoulders and honor our ancestors for their sacrifice, determination, forward-thinking, ingenuity, perseverance, and vision for the next generation to achieve greater heights.

I want you to know that you are in my family’s thoughts and prayers. We are thankful for every one of you and appreciate all that you do. Thank you, Third District, for your work, dedication, and commitment to the communities and people you serve. “We work hard for Omega in the Third District!”

In Friendship,

Brother Conrado B. Morgan
