Brothers of the Mighty Third District,
Today, we celebrate Juneteenth—a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, and the enduring strength of African Americans.
In June 1865, many of our ancestors in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed their liberation from being enslaved. Though faced with uncertainty and denied many of the rights and opportunities we often take for granted today, they persevered with faith, courage, and hope.
Now, 161 years later, we stand on their shoulders, reflect, and give honor to the many bridge builders who stood in the gap to move our communities forward. Their sacrifices helped pave the way for generations of African Americans to lead, serve, educate, innovate, and break barriers across every sector of society. While many of the challenges remain, our progress is a testament to their strength and determination.
As we honor their legacy, let us recommit ourselves to education, service, unity, and the call to action. As Omega men, may we continue to lead with integrity, uplift our communities, mentor our youth, and create opportunities for future generations.
May this Juneteenth remind us not only of how far we have come, but also of our responsibility to continue the work ahead.
May God bless you, your families, the Third District, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
