Greetings Brothers!

It’s one thing to know that it happened. Its another thing to know what happened. The latter is arguably more instructive. Our beloved Third District was born of the State Conference of Virginia which first convened in May of 1934. The attached article appeared in the Oracle published in June of the same year. In it, Editor-in-Chief of the Oracle, Malcolm S. Dodson, reprinted the happenings at the first State Conference of Virginia originally reported in the Norfolk Journal and Guide. The Conference, because of its substance, would eventually cause a shift in the Fraternity’s organizational framework and lead to what we now understand to be the Third District in form.
