As we celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, a day of service and reflection, honoring a profound civil rights leader’s enduring legacy of equality, justice, and unity. It’s a day where we and communities unite to serve and uplift, embodying King’s belief in the power of collective action. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., with its deep commitment to brotherhood and social action, significantly amplifies this spirit. Omega Men continue to champion King’s vision through our dedicated service and community engagement, demonstrating how united efforts can forge pathways of change and hope, inspiring each other and others to continue building a world of equity, understanding, and harmony. Additionally, we continue to reinforce his belief that “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” and message that “everyone can be great because everybody can serve.”
Brothers, this is also a day for us to let our voices be heard at the State Capitol for Legislative Lobby Day. Additionally, the participation will reemphasize King’s quote from 1963 in his “I Have a Dream” speech, “the fierce urgency of now.” Brothers “Now” was the time then, and “Now” continues to be the time in 2024.
I pray God continues to provide us the strength, compassion, discernment, and understanding to live our creed, stand in the gap, epitomize the light of Omega, and be examples of what all REAL MEN do.
