VIRGINIA BEACH—The Gamma Xi Uplift Foundation (GXUF) held its 23rd annual golf tournament—the Stop the Violence Golf Tournament–on May 17, 2019. Under a blinding sun, 72 golfers navigated the beautiful Bide-A-Wee Golf Course in Portsmouth, VA. The winning men’s team was made up of Jason Gayle, Anthony Hinds, Ryan Duncan and Teddy Gray. Faith Ryan, Sharron Miller, Wanda Cooper and Susan Kroger comprised the top women’s team. Additional skill and door prizes were passed out during the post-tournament dinner. Proceeds from the event support the prevention of domestic violence as well as many social action projects in South Hampton Roads. Michael Mitchell chaired the tournament committee. John Jessup is the head of the Gamma Xi Uplift Foundation.
