2022 DR’s Memorial Day Message
Greetings Brothers of the Mighty Third District,
Memorial Day is upon us and indicates the unofficial start of summer. More importantly, Memorial Day is a time to commemorate and reflect on the true meaning of this significant holiday. Part of the reflection is remembering the brave men and women of the Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. It is a direct result of their sacrifices that allow us to enjoy the rights, liberties, and freedoms that are our foundational attributes of being an American.
As we take the time to gather with friends and family to enjoy the unofficial start of summer, let us pause to honor those fallen soldiers who donned the uniforms of our country and sacrificed their lives during times of conflict. This sacrifice demonstrated our fallen soldier’s last full measure of devotion to our Nation!
We can continue to honor our soldiers who gave their lives by offering words of prayer and comfort, placing flowers on their graves, writing a tribute on social media, etc. Let us never forget and always remember the noble and resolute men and women who placed their lives on the line to protect all of us!
I would also like to take this time to remember Brigadier General Charles Young, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s second honorary member. Throughout his life, he faced obstacles that would have defeated most. His parents were enslaved when he was born. However, Brother Young persevered through hardship, social isolation during college, and illness in his final days, all to have a distinguished military career that ultimately elevated him to the highest-ranking Army Officer during his time in service.
I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to the many Omega Men who lived unselfishly and laid down their lives for our country. We appreciate their courage and sacrifices made through their commitment to protecting our country and securing our freedom!
Again, let us take this moment to show our appreciation. May God bless our Fraternity, the Third District, and our heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice!
In Friendship,
Brother Conrado B. Morgan
