Newport News, VA – On August 3, 2019, as part of their Fatherhood Initiative Program, Kappa Iota Iota Chapter (KII), Third District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. chaperoned eight young men to a storytelling event told in song, “Sing for Your Life” at Christopher Newport University’s Ferguson Center for the Arts.  The biography was about a young man Ryan Speedo Green from Suffolk, VA, who faced several challenges including juvenile detention at age 12, and a life plagued with disciplinary problems during his adolescent years.  Mr. Green overcame his challenges to share in some of the world’s best known Orchestras and Operas.  He currently resides in Austria and is a well sought out Opera singer.

KII’s Young Men of Distinction (YMOD) Program is chaired by Brothers Baron McKeithan and Richard Howell.  YMOD is a mentoring program adopted by Newport News Public School System.  YMOD focuses on Academics, Discipline, Self-Control, Perseverance, and Uplift.
