Richmond, Virginia, Friday September 23, 2017 Upsilon Nu Chapter supported the Special Olympics. The Brothers of Upsilon Nu worked with the Richmond Corporate Olympics at their annual event to raise money for the Special Olympics Virginia. Each participant company donates $1,500.00 to the Virginia Special Olympics. Proceeds from the Richmond Corporate Games of Innsbrook will benefit: Special Olympics Virginia. The event was coordinated by Upsilon Nu Vice-Basileus Bro. Michael Swain. Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Ten companies took part in the canoe race this year at Innsbrook Corporate Park. Brothers from Upsilon Nu assisted with the unloading and loading of the canoes and the set-up of the relay stations. Upsilon Nu was recognized for its participation and support at the end of the canoe races. After the event Basileus Jeff Tarpley and Vice -Basileus Michael Swain mingled with the contestants and explained to them about Upsilon Nu and the role it plays in the community, many had never heard of us but were extremely impressed when informed of what the chapter does.
