Upsilon Nu at 84th District Meeting

Arlington, Virginia, April 27 – 29, 2017. Upsilon Nu Chapter’s delegates and Brothers at-large made their way to Arlington, Virginia for the 84th District Meeting at the Crystal City Hilton.

“The District Meeting is a collection of meetings, reports and, if required, elections. It is also a time for goodbyes and transitions. I am always struck when I read the various reports submitted at the District.

They represent a year in the life of hard working Omega Men and their supporters from across the District. Not working in an environment of fanfare, they do the work from the Area Supervisors to MSP Chairman to the Advisors. I will miss the many conference calls, the fall and winter council meetings,” stated Bro. Michael Edwards.

Upsilon Nu’s Delegates were busy during the meeting, attending plenary sessions and side meetings and taking in the atmosphere of the District meeting as a whole. The results of the District elections produced the following Leadership:

Brother Kevin Brown: District Representative, Brother Conrado B. Morgan: First Vice District Representative, Brother Isaiah R West: 2nd Vice District Representative, Brother Shawn R. Lacey: District Keeper of Records and Seal, Brother Walter B. Hill Jr.: District Keeper of Finance, Brother Rev. Courtenay L. Miller: District Chaplain, Brother Norm Senior: District Director of Public Relations, Brother Vincent Robertson, Esq: District Counselor, Brother Ezekiel Dennison, Jr.: Immediate Past District Representative.

As a chapter, Upsilon Nu was recognized for a tremendous year of community service. Upsilon Nu’s Bro. Michael Edwards was recognized as the recipient of the 3rd District Founder’s Award and the District Representative’s Award for his outstanding work as District Auditor and Service to the District during his administration, Bro. Frank Dunn was recognized for his efforts as Area Supervisor by the District Representative.

The Talent Hunt Contest, though competitive every year, was extremely competitive this year. The contestants from across the District definitely broughttheir ‘A’ game. Upsilon Nu’s Noah Campbell, who played the saxophone, was even more awesome than he was, when he won at the chapter level. Though he did not finish in one of the three top spots, we are very proud of him and sure he has a very bright future in front of him.

Upsilon Nu supported the District Social Action Project hosted by Alpha Omega. Upsilon Nu provided suites, ties, sports coats, and toiletries. These donations will support community groups in the Washington D.C. area.
