The Brothers of Sigma Kappa Kappa Chapter are back yet again making an impact. This time, the Chapter’s reach extended over the Atlantic Ocean all the way to the U.S. Virgin Islands. After the Chapter’s recent Hurricane Harvey Relief Project was a success, Brother Delwyn Petersen, Ways and Means Chair and 2016-2017 Superior Service Award recipient asked the Brothers, “why stop with Houston, there are other places that have been affected by other storms just as powerful; our Chapter should reach out to those places as well. The Virgin Islands were hit by Hurricane Irma and two weeks later Maria; St Croix took a direct hit.” The Brothers of Sigma Kappa Kappa Chapter agreed. With Brother Petersen steering the course, the Brothers were able to organize, identify four families in need and purchase: 2 generators, chainsaws, 10 cases of water, 6 bags of rice, can goods, toiletries, feminine products and fans. Brother Petersen traveled to Hyattsville, Maryland to oversee the purchase and shipment to St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. Sigma Kappa Kappa would like to thank and highlight Brother Petersen for his continued efforts to provide uplift for those truly in need and those affected by Hurricane Irma.
