WVEC 13 News Coastal Connections September Episode:
The Brothers of Sigma Kappa Kappa Chapter were featured once again on WVEC 13 News. The Chapter’s Foundation; the C.R.O.P. Foundation was highlighted in the September Coastal Connections Show for its hard work and dedication to the community. Brother Winfield “E” Edwards eloquently represented the Foundation and the Fraternity. On July 23, 2017, Sigma Kappa Kappa’s non-profit organization for social action, the Community Resource Opportunity Project (C.R.O.P.) Foundation, awarded an outstanding candidate our first annual academic scholarship for post-secondary academic study. The recipient, Ms. Shanice Morgan, was awarded $1000.00 to support her study at Roanoke College for the 2017-2018 academic school year.
The C.R.O.P Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity, we are organized exclusively for charitable, mentoring, and educational purposes. We are organized as a public charity and are incorporated in Virginia to make a positive difference in the lives of youth in the Hampton Roads Region, with a specific focus on youth in the City of Chesapeake, VA. Our mission is to create a community in which all children and young adults living in Hampton Roads have the tools to grow and thrive.
For far too many children, they do not have the support they need to obtain a higher education and reach their fullest potential. Nutritious meals, a positive role model, and financial support for higher education are simply out of reach. To this end, we are organized around these three themes: 1) to provide financial support for youth to obtain a higher education; 2) to provide hunger relief services for students and families (primarily through food drives); and, 3) to provide mentoring opportunities to support young people in their academic endeavors.
We believe that by nourishing the minds, bodies, and souls of our children today; we are creating stronger communities for tomorrow!
Our board of directors, officers, and committee members are made up entirely of volunteers, committed to improving the lives of our children. We advocate for and support those who need our help.
Please join us, the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., from the Sigma Kappa Kappa Chapter as we do this good and honorable work.
Do you want to support us in our mission? Please consider making a donation to help support our work. Even a small amount goes a long way in helping our youth to reach their fullest potential.
