On Saturday, January 13, 2018, The Golden Fold-Suffolk, Alpha Iota Chapter's Mentoring Group, took a day trip to Baltimore, MD and Washington, D.C. While in Baltimore, MD, the young leaders toured The National Great Blacks in Wax Museum. This museum is a wax museum in Baltimore, Maryland featuring prominent African-American historical figures. It was established in 1983, in a downtown storefront on Saratoga Street. It began with a guided tour of the museum and lessons on slavery, the slave trade, and the accomplishments of influential African Americans. After the guided portion of the tour, the young men continued their education in African American history on their own. Following the tour of the museum, the mentees were afforded a chance to attend the Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C., as The Washington Wizards hosted the Brooklyn Nets. The Wizards are an American professional basketball team based in Washington, D.C. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league's Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The young men enjoyed the opportunity to unwind and be entertained at the game with food, folks and fun!
