Pi Lambda Lambda (PLL) Chapter, Third District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. supported the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Game Day Give Back Project with a donation of $10,604.00.  For the past several years PLL has established a monetary goal for this worthy effort.  This year’s goal was set at $10,000.  Brother Eddie A. Stephens, Jr., Chapter Basileus (President) thanked the Brothers of Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter and all donors for their support to St. Jude. He gave a special thanks to Brother Keith Breland, Social Action Chairman for his committee work on this project. He also thanked the George M. Special thanks to PLL’s own Brother Conrado Morgan, 3rd District, 1st Vice District Representative, for his tireless efforts in encouraging support for this worthy cause.

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay. The funds donated will support the kids and families at St. Jude. The kids nor the families have to pay for travel, medical care, lodging or food as long as the kids are in treatment at St. Jude. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. More than 40% of the kids treated at St. Jude are African Americans.

All donations are tax deductible and there will be a raffle for gifts at the Dr. Moses C. Norman, Sr. Leadership Conference for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. on July 9, 2019 in Atlantic City New Jersey for those who donated on behalf of Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter.

This project supports Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s Social Action Program and will fall under our internationally mandated program of Health Initiatives in the future. We thank all of our patrons and donors for their support in this project and the continuing support as we do our part to give back to our community.

In an effort to have a more coordinated campaign, St Jude has created web links for each individual District. Please only use the link provided by St. Jude Children’s Hospital: 3rd District - OPPF.  I am proud to see that this Year’s effort is one Team with one purpose for the Mighty Third District, and I know that you and the Brothers of the Third District will help to lead in the campaign, as you have in the past. If you find a need to track your Chapter’s progress, you can identify them by name, or as they make an online donation, instruct them to put the respective chapter's name beside their name. Either method will provide you with a mechanism for tracking donations that are being made on behalf of your chapter. Please feel free to call or write if I can be of further assistance, or you can contact Brother Jeff Tarpley [(804) 370-2381; jtarpley1@yahoo.com] who is a member of the Third District Social Action Committee, and is once again leading the campaign.

Always fraternally yours in Omega,
Brother Harvey L. Woodson
